The month of May ended with some great news about Saint Paul Parks. For the fourth year in a row, Saint Paul has the #2 park system in the U.S. according to the Trust for Public Land ParkScore index. The ParkScore index evaluates parks in the 100 largest cities across the United States. Washington D.C landed in the top spot, while Minneapolis slipped to #3 in the rankings after being in the number #1 spot for six straight years.
Saint Paul scored extremely well in several areas including access and investment. In the area of access, 98% of residents live within a 10 minute walk of a park, compared to only 54% nationally. For the investment measure, the city scored a perfect 100/100. You can see the full calculations for Saint Paul (and other cities) at https://www.tpl.org/city/st-paul-minnesota. It is fascinating data.
The other great news is that Rice Park is finally open and the park is beautiful. The construction fences were removed late last week. I hope you can join us for the grand opening celebration on June 11. We’ll be hosting a location near the fountain so stop by and say hi. See you there.
