Described as more “high level work plan,” the document aligns with both the City’s Comprehensive Plan for 2040, Saint Paul’s “blueprint” for guiding development in the city over the next 20 years. “Celebrating parks” is one of the core values of the Comprehensive Plan and the SPPR plan has key elements to support that value.
You Saint Paul Parks Conservancy has multiple opportunities to intersect with and support the plan:
- “Pursue dedicated funding source for local Parks & Recreation” echoes the Conservancy’s purpose to the be champion for Saint Paul’s neighborhood parks.
- “Implement department-wide sponsorship/partnership policy” ties in with the work the Conservancy is doing now to offer a robust array of ways that park lovers can support parks by dedicating and sponsoring picnic tables, artwork, and plantings in addition to benches and trees
- “Update Systems Plan (Design and Construction)” is one of the projects the Conservancy is supporting. With an updated system wide plan, we can work with the City to identify neighborhood park needs and address the system inequities. This step is foundational to making sure our park system better serves ALL Saint Paul families.
