Neighborhood input is invited for improvements to the playground at Wacouta Commons Park.
Friends of Wacouta Commons Park and the Saint Paul Parks Conservancy are gathering input from the nearby residents of Wacouta Commons Park for improvements to the playground.
One of downtown Saint Paul’s “pocket parks,” Wacouta Commons Park is nestled between the Sibley Park Apartments and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. This block-length oasis stretches from Eighth to Ninth streets and from Sibley to Wacouta streets.
Under the leadership of Board President Chris Thomforde, The Friends of Wacouta Commons Park raised money to donate 14 overstory trees and cover installation costs.
“This little park has become a safe space for diverse residents and this community’s back yard,” said Thomforde.
A schedule of community input sessions will be announced soon. Meanwhile, ff you live in the area – particularly if young people in your family make use of the park – please let us know if you would like to participate in upcoming community input sessions.
I live in this neighbor and love seeing the kids play there when I’m walking my dog. Not sure if the plans but appreciate this green space and how it serves the neighborhood.
I live in Lowertown and my grandchildren stay with me at times. We use the park now and will continue to do so. Thanks for your work to keep this park a lovely space.
I live two blocks away with my 4 year old. I would love to see new and more expansive playground infrastructure because it is the only playground in the area. The open space and fountain are great. I would like to see more shade.
